Casa de Pastel didn't start with a business plan. It started with a girl from Amsterdam, a Le Cordon Bleu diploma, and a one-way ticket to Barcelona.
Lauren de Vries built her first cake business in Amsterdam before trading canals for sunshine and landing in Poble Nou, Barcelona — where a three-month adventure turned into eight years and counting. From a small expat community following to a growing mix of local Spanish and Catalan clients, Casa de Pastel has become a little corner of Barcelona where every celebration gets the cake it deserves.
Every cake we make is fully custom — you pick the flavor, style, colors and theme, and we handle the rest. From wedding cakes and birthday centrepieces to baby showers, corporate events and our beloved Bento Cakes, we put the same love into every order. We also host hands-on cake workshops at the studio, with a glass of cava included. Because why not. 🥂
We're a girls-run team, and we love being part of your celebrations.
Come find us at Poble Nou, Barcelona, or order directly on our website.

Behind the scenes
Meet the team
Lauren
Founder & Head Cake Maker
I'm the founder of Casa de Pastel and the one who started it all — covered in buttercream and running on passion. With over 10 years of experience, my heart belongs to vintage cakes and wedding cakes, and I have a very clear vision of what I want (even if I can't always put it into words — I just know when it's right). Alongside the cake making I love, I'm also learning to navigate the wild world of running a business, which is a whole other kind of recipe. Mum of 2, juggler of all the balls, and still somehow managing to keep the oven on. Casa de Pastel started as a passion and has grown into something I'm incredibly proud of — and we're only just getting started.
Maripaz
Cake Artist & Bakery Manager
Maripaz is the heartbeat of the Casa de Pastel kitchen, and honestly, without her this place would not be the same. She keeps everything running smoothly, knows where everything is, and somehow manages to do it all with the biggest smile in the room. She lights up every single day — we laugh until we cry, and that's not an exaggeration. She came in with a few years of cake experience under her belt, but the growth she's shown in just one year here has been truly incredible. A true warrior, a bit of everything kind of girl, and one of the most important people behind every cake that leaves our kitchen.
Nadia
Our Everything Email Girl
If you've ever received a prompt, warm reply from Casa de Pastel, that was Nadia. She handles every single email, every wedding enquiry, every corporate question — and she does it all with speed and care that makes our clients feel like they're in the best hands. She coordinates the big stuff — weddings, corporate orders, all the moving parts — and somehow keeps it all perfectly organised. Don't let her size fool you, she is an absolute force and one of the sharpest people we know. A mum, a talented copywriter, and the queen of our inbox — working from home or popping into the bakery, but always, always on it.
Laura
Cake Artist & Workshop Lead
Laura is our freelance secret weapon — she shows up when we need her most, and we are so grateful she does. She holds down a full-time corporate job by day, but her real love is cake, and she's not afraid to prove it by staying until 2 in the morning to get things just right. And when we say just right, we mean it — Laura is a perfectionist through and through (sometimes we have to gently remind her that a little less than absolute perfection is also good — it's hand-made after all). She runs all of our workshops with warmth and skill, and as our local girl she speaks English, Spanish and Catalan fluently, which makes every guest feel right at home. A true night owl, a dedicated cake lover, and someone Casa de Pastel simply couldn't do without.
Let's bake your moment
Birthday, wedding, corporate — we'd love to make something special for you.
